Eschewing the little black dress this season, designers are instead focusing on white pieces accentuated by black details. Whether it’s ERES’ “Benzene” draped bathing suit cover up accented by an elegant black belt; Bally’s off-white python dress with sleek black trim at the hemline; or Porsche Design’s new “TwinBag,” made with white calfskin and chrome black metal fittings, this color palette takes its wearers from spring through the sultry days of summer.
Fawaz Gruosi presents a new women’s timepiece collection as homage to beauty and colour. SUGAR is the very essence of femininity, transforming a watch into a luxurious sweet treat. The moving gems create a free movement all around the watch leaving a sparkling cascade of the highest quality of precious stones in white diamonds, emeralds, orange or blue sapphires.
These new creations appropriately named SUGAR add a little sweetness to the already notoriously bold and lavish de GRISOGONO pieces. Fawaz Gruosi’s creativity is in continuous motion and he feels relentlessly inspired by all that he sees in life. He never ceases to surprise its most loyal followers and has kept doing so with this collection.
SUGAR combines the artistry of the skilled gem-setters with the craftsmanship of the Brand’s timepiece designers, the intricate gem-setting techniques perfectly conceal the mechanical details of the movement. The coloured mother of pearl render a soft, rich texture as the precious stones shine with an endless flow. de GRISOGONO reinvents the already iconic marriage of materials and precious gems, as well as the use of brilliant colours which distinguishes the de GRISOGONO’s unique style.
“I wanted to design a luxurious watch to express the exceptional qualities of every woman – femininity, softness, brilliance, playfulness and elegance.” Fawaz Gruosi
SUGAR expresses the joy of sweet moments and the exquisite refinement of the art of jewelry timepieces at its best.
Predicted to be one of the top fashion trends for 2013, stripes can be found in a variety of colors and styles across Crystals’ retailers. For an exotic approach, Paul Smith has an oblong scarf featuring green zebra print. Men can show their stripes by pairing Brunello Cucinelli’s “Maglia Riche Rugby Blu” striped cable-knit chine cotton sweater with a sporty cotton shirt.
BRUNELLO CUCINELLI’S MEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2013 COLLECTION
“Clothing is an expression of society,” wrote Honoré de Balzac in his Treatise on Elegant Living. The search for simplicity, balance, and understatement is expressed through new, contemporary elegance.
By carefully alternating formal and casual looks, the new Brunello Cucinelli Men’s Collection for Spring-Summer 2013 seeks to express a concept of timeless luxury where
the elegance and stylistic perfection of a fifties-style dandy blend with rocker elements
of the eighties.
By combining a one-and-a-half-breasted sartorial blazer, shirt and tie with a Japanese denim jacket and colorful cotton trousers, the traditional dandy changes face. The slim-fit grisaille or wool suit is paired up with more casual madras print or denim shirts and sometimes
with a simple piqué polo shirt, not necessarily with a tie.
Great importance is given to the accessories that complete the outfit: pocket squares, ties, belts and shoes that are carefully used to give the Cucinelli man a truly contemporary look.
Extremely light fabrics and materials have always characterized the collections from Solomeo. Here the choice falls on wool and cotton fabrics, ultra-light leather, and sophisticated technical materials used for outerwear, always in neutral colors.
Subtle color given a grayish tone through treatments plays a primary role in trousers and down vests: raspberry, pomegranate, green and Baltic, Atlantic and ocean blue are featured along with cool shades of beige and blue. Refined knitwear comes in different gauges and includes cable knits, shaker knits, ribbing, and jacquard in neutrals or in shades of orange,
sherry, ice, Mohito, and citron.
BRUNELLO CUCINELLI’S WOMEN’S SPRING/SUMMER 2013 COLLECTION – EXTRODINARY SIMPLICITY
When the ordinary becomes extraordinary, creativity is expressed through new combinations of simplicity. Shapes, volumes and fine materials are blended in apparently simple garments that actually reveal great artisan craftsmanship and tailoring. Sleek, simple lines create three-dimensional effects by layering organza, muslin, gauze and georgette. Silk and cotton, the stars of the season together with impalpable, flowing wool, appear dry, sablé, and grainy. As opaque and crisp as crepe, they are used to offset lustrous, glossy surfaces that resemble molten metal.
Silhouettes inspired by geometric shapes – the box and trapezium – are A-line or T-shaped. They are less full, shorter, never fitted, and can be worn with wide-leg trousers with a drawstring waist or slim-fit trousers. Femininity is accentuated by ultra-light organza, muslin, and gauze. Flowing, fluid fabrics alternate with stiffer materials used to “construct” geometric shapes. Braided and knotted mélange cords are used to create floral trim. Yarn and ribbon in blended colors and subtle prints form exquisite petals and flowers.
A deliberate alternation of feminine and contemporary sporty-chic elements gives a precise identity to this collection in new neutrals.
Its palette of delicate nuances ranges from nude, silk and stone to warmer shades of terracotta, copper, and kangaroo brown.
A desire for simplicity is often expressed through monochrome neutral shades in different materials or through unusual combinations with seasonal hues such as colorful blue, coral, and malachite green.
The pure, simple shapes in this apparently ‘everyday’ collection need accessories for a special touch. The wide assortment of men’s style shoes are embellished with fine metal threads. Lace-ups, moccasins, and high heels are made of soft leather, suede, or patent leather in dusty shades.
There are large or medium-sized handbags (those inseparable companions) and clutches in a wide range of materials, from leather to python, Lurex-sprayed leather, and patent leather.
Handbags, shoes, scarves, belts, and jewelry add value to simplicity, transforming the ordinary into something extraordinary.
This collection is available at the Brunello Cucinelli boutique at The Shops at Crystals.
